Here is another beautiful woodblock print of Itô Shinsui 伊東 深水 (1898-1972). The title of the picture is Before the Mirror. He painted it around 1916 in the so-called shin-hanga 新版画 style, new woodcuts mixing traditional and modern elements.
This lovely picture was painted by Itô Shinsui in 1917. It shows a Japanese woman holding an umbrella against the falling rain, She is wearing a black kimono with a simple pattern and a blue white obi. I like the simplicity of this picture.
Itô Shinsui has painted this ukiyo-e titled “Thinking about the coming Spring” (1923). I thought it is a nice picture for today’s post, as the summer is gone by now.
