Art on Tuesday: Cherry Blossoms of Love

toriikiyomasa_II

This is a very old woodblock print of the painter Torii Kiyomasu I 鳥居 清倍 which is dated around 1718. Cherry Blossoms of Love is the title of this picture. It shows a graceful woman holding a branch with cherry blossoms in her right hand. The black kimono is decorated with red-white flowers with an obi in a different pattern. She has a certain elegance.
