Art on Tuesday: Chrysanthemum

tsu

This picture was painted by Kitano Tsunetomi 北野恒富 (1880- 1947). He was a  famous bijin-ga painter and print-maker. The chrysanthemum is a very popular kimono motif. The flower is the symbol of the Japanese emperor and his family and therefore it can be regarded as a more traditional pattern.
