Art on Tuesday: Beauty with Fan

Beauty with Fan of 1928 is a work of  Yamakawa Shuho  山川秀峰 (1898 – 1944), a Japanese painter born in Kyôto, who mainly painted bijin-ga, pictures of beautiful women.

She is presenting an interesting head-gear: a comb and a curved band, wearing  a cotton kimono with a traditional Japanese pattern and a red obi. In her hand she is holding a round fan.
